My Reaction
This project was hard because we would do basically any topic, so I didn't know where to start. I decided on something to do with swimming because that's all I really do outside of school besides homework and sleeping so I thought I might as well learn more about it. I actually learned a lot from this about how different brands compare and how they handle marketing. I don't really have a favorite brand because they all make different products that I use a lot and like. But if I had to pick one I would probably go with Speeod just because they make really cool suits that actually last more than one season which is nice. However, their equipment isn't that great. I like the equipment from A3 because it's high quality and there aren't a million different kinds of each thing to choose from.
The Future of Swimming
Over time, the time standards have been getting faster and faster, making it harder for swimmers who aren't totally amazing but aren't horrible either to make it to state and other qualifying meets. I get that not everyone can go to those meets and they have to limit how many people go, but it makes it so much harder to make it in this sport. Also, people are healthier these days so they are able to swim faster. New technologies for suits make them more expensive and super fast. I think they will keep finding ways to make suits even more drag resistant somehow, even though they're already really good. Maybe they can find a way to make the suits even faster and cheaper. I also think people will keep getting faster in general because of better food and health, so the times will just keep getting faster. I hope swimming stays about the swimming and not the suits or anything else. People should always be able to experience swimming just for the satisfaction of reaching the wall before the person next to you and not have to worry about what suit they're wearing or the time standards.
